Since 1845, Zion has proclaimed the Gospel and served the South Philadelphia community. Today we continue that mission through Christ-centered worship, biblical teaching, compassionate service, and a welcoming church family. We would be honored to welcome you this Sunday.
Our mission reflects the mission of our connectional African Methodist Episcopal Church which is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating Gospel in word and deed. We seek to make disciples, serve those in need, care for the sick and shut-in, encourage economic advancement, and stand for social justice.

Founded in 1845 by a small group of faithful believers, Zion AME Church has stood as a pillar of faith, resilience, and community in South Philadelphia for generations. Through the Great Migration, the civil rights movement, and every season of change, Zion has remained — preaching the Gospel, serving the neighborhood, and welcoming all who seek a church home. Today, under the leadership of Rev. Dietra C. Bell, Zion continues that unbroken legacy with renewed vision and purpose.
